August 18, 2020 2 min read

The sun is shining, the birds are tweeting and you’ve got no plans. What better way to spend a summer’s day than tucking into a delightful picnic with your loved ones? To celebrate National Picnic Week, here at Spicers of Hythe we have come up with some of the best picnic spots in Kent!

Mote Park, Maidstone
With 450 acres of extensive greenery and breath-taking lakes, Mote Park is the perfect spot to lay down a picnic blanket and enjoy some delightful picnic food. With a children’s play area, sports facilities, BMX track, fishing pond and lots more, this park provides fun for all of the family!

Ellington Park, Ramsgate
This hidden gem is located just outside of Ramsgate town centre. Incorporating both a children’s play area and a physical activity area that adults can enjoy, the park has a range of attractions to suit everyone. The miniature railway line with running steam trains is a real hot spot – perfect to watch whilst enjoying your picnic!

Samphire Hoe, Dover
If you’re a wildlife lover, then this is the perfect spot for you. You will find plenty of wild flowers and birds, as well as a lot of wildlife around. Created from the material dug up to create the Channel Tunnel, the pebble beach is a glorious spot and you can even enjoy some rock-pooling after your picnic!

Grove Ferry, Canterbury
Located right next to the River Stour, this picnic site offers guided canoe tours and even a picturesque boat trip. If you fancy a walk after your picnic, there are circular walks following on from the site with fabulous scenic views.

Haysden Country Park, Tonbridge
If you’re looking for a quieter picnic spot, then this one is for you. With over 65 acres of greenery, it’s perfect for a relaxing stroll in the countryside. The park holds both a nature and a historical trail for visitors, and often holds events such as fishing events or walks.
